    • Any dependent can get a J-2 Visa by the consulates in their home country. These J-2 visa eligible dependents will not go through any selection process either by Global Scholar Resources or by the Host Schools. A J-2 visa will automatically be issued for any dependent of the J-1 program participating teacher. However, the Visa fees and other expenses related to this J-2 visa must be paid by the J-1 program participating teacher.

    • If the J-1 program participating teacher is willing to bring his/her spouse must submit the marriage certificate and to bring any dependent child, J-1 program participating teacher must submit the birth certificate of that child.

    • The J-1 program participating teacher can bring the dependents along with him/her when coming to the USA or dependents can join with the J-1 teacher later. In either case, the J-1 teacher must inform our RO/AROs. (However, we advise the J-1 teacher to come alone to the USA and work for one year to get accustomed to the program and the country before bringing any dependent for the smooth and the happy life with the family)

    • Any J-2 Visa holder must have Health Insurance which must be paid by the J-1 program participating teacher.

    • Any J-2 Visa holder is eligible to attend schools in the USA.

    • The J-2 visa holder can remain in legal status in the USA if the J-1 Exchange Teacher has a valid status. Once the J-1 teacher program ends, J-2 dependents will no longer have any legal status in the USA.
