Teacher Recruitment Process Calendar

The Global Scholar Resources, Inc will select the candidates for the J-1 program in a step-by-step procedure as follows:

  • Step 1: Interested abroad candidates will check our website for their eligibility for this J-1 Exchange Teacher Visitor Program and for the list of required documents. 

  • Step 2: Once the candidates meet the eligibility criteria, they will need to submit the Global scholar Resources Online Application form and upload the supporting documents.

  • Step 3: The RO and ARO of Global Scholar Resources will scrutinize the applications submitted and will make the preliminary selection for the J-1 program

  • Step 4: All the selected preliminary candidates will be called for a virtual interview to re-verify will filter the candidates for the suitability for the J-1 program. The candidates selected in this step will be kept in the Candidates Pool of Global Scholar Resources.

  • Step 5: The school systems who are having contract with Global Scholar Resources will interview the applicants in the Candidates Pool, virtually or in-person. For the selected candidates, the school system will send the job offer to GSR.

  • Step 6: The RO/ARO of Global Scholar Resources will issue the form DS-2019 for the school system selected teachers and the GSR will dispatch the form DS-2019, and the Job Offer letter to the selected candidate. 

  • Step 7: The school system selected teacher will make an appointment with the US Consulate in their home country, and they will attend the interview along with the form           DS-2019 and the Job Offer letter to get the J-1 visa.  

  • Step 8: After receiving the J-1 Visa, the teachers will gather needful documents, book a flight ticket and will safely arrive at the USA to attend the J-1 program in their designated Host School.

GSR Teacher Selection Process:

To participate in the J-1 Teacher Exchange Visitor Program, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of a degree equivalent to a US Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) in Education or in the subject area in which he/she is interested in teaching. To confirm this the candidates must submit their credential course-by-course evaluation of their transcripts by an authorized Foreign Credential Evaluation Agency in the USA.

  • Be working as a teacher in their home country or country of legal residence at the time of the application. 

  • Be having a minimum of two years of teaching experience OR if not working as a teacher, he/she must have recently (within 12 months of application) completed an advanced degree in education and have two years of full-time teaching experience within the past eight years.

  • Be satisfying the USA School Systems’ teaching standards.

  • Be a person of good reputation and character by submitting Government-issued documents to verify.

  • Be Proficient in English Language, required by most of the school systems in the USA. Candidates must demonstrate the English language proficiency by

* Passing the TOEFL with the score of  Speaking: 22, Listening: 22, Reading: 22, Writing: 21   OR

* Passing the IELTS test with the general score of 7 or above  OR

 * Passing the CAMBRIDGE test with the score of C1 or above

  • Be agreeing to come to the US temporarily as a full-time teacher in any school in the USA.

  • Be submitting a reference letter from his/her immediate supervisor (Principal/ Headmaster) of the current or former school and a reference letter from a colleague acknowledging his/her good reputation, character, and teaching skills.

  • Be confirming the financial ability and having sufficient funds available to cover the relocation expenses and the living expenses in the US for at least 2 months after arrival. To confirm this financial ability, candidates must submit a Financial Responsibility letter. 

Global Scholar Resources employs a rigorous and transparent screening and selection process to identify and recruit the most qualified and motivated teachers in Math, Science, Special Education and other subject areas for the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program of the US Department of State. Candidates will be selected based on their academic qualifications, teaching experience, English Language proficiency, agreed to strictly follow the program compliances, promise to abide by the laws of the USA, and the commitment to the cross-cultural exchange.
